Two-year nursing programs are offered by many vocational, career, and community colleges in New Mexico. These are often considered an economical choice for prospective nurses looking to launch their careers.

Community colleges for nursing
Community colleges are sometimes referred to as vocational colleges, since they seek to provide the most crucial skills and knowledge needed for students who wish to have a stable nursing job immediately after graduation. For licensed practical nurses (LPNs), these programs often take 12 to 18 months; for registered nurses (RNs), they require two to three years. Their primary focus is nursing science merged with hands-on practice, enabling students to develop a versatile skill set in an efficient amount of time. There are plenty of subsequent avenues for advancement. For example, many LPNs eventually become registered nurses through LPN-to-RN programs. Similarly, RN graduates can pursue the more advanced bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree through an RN-to-BSN program.
