Vermont’s registered nursing (RN) programs provide their students with rigorous and comprehensive medical training. Graduates can immediately pursue a career in registered nursing, or they may continue their education by enrolling in a master of science in nursing (MSN) or doctoral degree program.

Overview of registered nursing programs
Vermont’s prospective RNs may choose between two educational pathways: a two-year associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) or a four-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Coursework covers critical areas like nursing theory, nursing informatics, and nursing administration. Students also receive extensive technical training. Registered nurses assume many roles in healthcare settings, from providing bedside care to directing patient care plans. RNs also supervise more junior healthcare personnel, such as certified nursing assistants (CNAs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and junior-level caregivers.
