Registered nurses (RNs) are the critical cogwheel in the healthcare system, serving as a liaison between medical staff, more junior nurses, and the patient. Oklahoma has two types of prelicensure RN programs: a two-year associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) and a four-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). The state’s RNs earn a median annual salary of $56,870. Below we’ve profiled three of Oklahoma’s top RN programs in depth.

Oklahoma Wesleyan University
Oklahoma Wesleyan offers both prelicensure BSN and RN-to-BSN programs. Students can either opt for a traditional full-time option or a part-time evening program. The School of Nursing enjoys an excellent student track record on the NCLEX examination, including a 100% pass rate in some recent years. It also offers national and international mission trips to expose students to nursing practice in different communities.

University of Central Oklahoma
The core program in Central Oklahoma’s Department of Nursing is the traditional four-year BSN program. There are also program options for existing RNs who wish to complete a BSN degree, and for LPNs who wish to enter the registered nursing profession. Admission is very competitive: less than half of all applicants were admitted for the fall of 2012.

Bacone College
The nursing program at Bacone is only open to existing RNs who already have an associate’s degree in nursing. As a result, the program is accelerated and students are required to graduate in 12 to 18 months. Successful graduates can seek employment with major local healthcare providers like HCR ManorCare.

To help the state’s prospective nurses, we’ve compiled below a full list of Oklahoma’s prelicensure RN programs.
