Prospective nurses in New Mexico can select from many registered nursing (RN) programs in the state. These programs provide career flexibility and the medical knowledge to pursue employment upon graduation. Registered nursing is a logical first career step, and graduates can also choose to pursue further healthcare training in higher education.

Registered nurses
RNs are the core of the healthcare community. They sport a versatile skill set and enjoy abundant career advancement opportunities. This versatility allows RNs to work in a number of roles, from patient care to clinical research. New Mexico’s aspiring RNs can pursue either a two-year associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or a four-year bachelor of science in nursing (BSN). Graduates from either pathway must pass the NCLEX-RN national licensure exam to practice as registered nurses.
