The all-in cost of attending nursing school includes not only tuition fees but also books and supplies, room and board, and other living expenses. We profile below the educational expenses incurred at several of West Virginia’s nursing schools.
Wheeling Jesuit University
This university is the most expensive school in the entire state. For example, a 12-month full-time program will cost approximately $27,000 in tuition fees. Despite this hefty cost, Wheeling Jesuit’s bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program is among only eight percent of BSN programs nationwide to earn a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. Upon successful graduation, students can apply for licensure to become registered nurses (RNs). The median annual income of a West Virginia RN is $54,000.
This university, which also offers a BSN program, recently ranked #38 in AffordableSchools.net’s “Most Affordable Colleges with the Best Return.” WVU Tech offers many merit-based scholarships to reduce the financial burden for its students.
Monongalia County Technical Education Center
MTEC offers a licensed practical nursing (LPN) certificate program. Graduates may work as LPNs once they successfully pass the NCLEX-PN national licensure examination. Despite its low annual tuition cost of $2,370 for state residents, MTEC’s return on investment is high: the median annual salary of a West Virginia LPN is almost $34,000.
Below we’ve compiled a more extensive list of West Virginia nursing schools, ordered from the most expensive to the least expensive.
