Programs include LPN/LVN, ADN, BSN, MSN, and more

Registered nurses (RNs) form the largest healthcare occupation in the United States, with approximately 2.7 million RNs across the entire country. RNs independently provide direct patient care and make important healthcare decisions. In addition, they often supervise LPNs, nursing assistants, and orderlies. As such, RNs are the cornerstone of every medical facility.

Aspiring RNs in Colorado can embark on one of two distinct educational paths: the associate’s degree (ADN) or bachelor’s degree (BSN) program. ADN programs are offered at over 20 institutions across the state including Arapahoe Community College and Lamar Community College. BSN programs are offered at a dozen schools including Adams State University and Regis University. Students will have the opportunity to gain many hours of clinical experience to prepare for employment upon graduation. After successful completion of these programs, RN candidates must pass a national examination, the NCLEX-RN, in order to officially gain licensure as a registered nurse.
